In some northern
parts of Italy during the reception the newlyweds are supposed
to cut in a half a large log.
Either the family members or the friends provide a sizable log
and a saw.
The bride and the groom approach the log many times during the
festivity and cut the log little by little.
Family members are encouraged to help since the cutting may take
many hours.
This wedding tradition means that once the bride and the groom
were able to cut the log
they will be able to successfully confront and overcome any
obstacles in their marriage.
