1 Corinthians 13:1-13
A Reading
from the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians
If I speak in the tongues of men
and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging
cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries
and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains,
but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I
deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not
arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable
or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the
truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things,
endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass
away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass
away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect
comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a
child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a
man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but
then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as
I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these
three; but the greatest of these is love.

Colossians 3:12-17
A Reading
from the Letter of Paul to the Colossians
As those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart
of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with
one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against
anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all
these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Let the
peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in
one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within
you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms
and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts
to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord
Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

1 John 4:7-12
A Reading
from the First Letter of John
Beloved, let us love one another,
because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows
God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. God's
love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the
world so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we
loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning
sacrifice for our sins. Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also
ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one
another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.
